Algae Jet Fuel, Pentagon

The Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), is responsible for some of the United State’s most technological advances, including internet and satellite navigation. Most recently, the agency has been working on developing jet fuel made out of algae. Officials say that the algae fuel could drop to as low as $1 a gallon after processing and refinement. The military has been highly dependent on oil for many generations, using  up to 60 -75 million barrels a year. If this new development proves to be successful, it could be beneficial in cutting the military’s addiction for fossil fuels. It is predicted that algae fuel may have an influence on the commercial airline industry as well.
